| Our Lady of Chinquinquira is the patroness of Colombia; crowned as such on July 9, 1919. The origins of this beautiful painting can be traces back to 1563 when the Spanish commander, Don Antonio de Santana, commissioned a painting for the chapel of the town of Sutamarchįn.
In Miami, Florida on July 12 of this year at Mother of Christ Church, many Colombians gathered to honor their Patroness and ask for the the restoration of the genuine Catholic spirit of Colombia.
The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Antonio Acevedo and Fr. Julio Solano, Colombian priests of the Archdiocese of Miami. The Heralds of the Gospel and Companions also participated by animating the liturgy and solemn procession to honor the Patroness of Colombia. |
